We are thrilled to share that our Ph.D. student, Mr. Shuai YUAN (supervised by Prof. Peng GONG), has been awarded the HKU Research Postgraduate Student Innovation Award 2024/25 (up to 10 awards) for his project titled “Revealing the Energy Transition Process in the Greater Bay Area from 2000 to 2020 by Satellite Images and Deep Learning.” This research utilizes advanced satellite imagery and deep learning techniques to construct a comprehensive energy plants dataset and analyze two decades of energy transition in the Greater Bay Area. This award highlights the Department’s dedication to fostering academic excellence, supporting talented students, and driving impactful research.
