Urban trees for heat mitigation and adaptation: A social ecological perspective
Professor Weiqi Zhou
Professor, Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences
Prof. Weiqi Zhou is a professor of urban ecology, and deputy director of the State Key Laboratory of Regional and Urban Ecology, Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He is also the director of the Beijing Urban Ecosystem Research Station, a station focusing on long-term urban ecological research. Prof. Zhou is broadly interested in spatial heterogeneity of the landscape. He integrates field observations, remote sensing and modeling to understand the structure of urban socio-ecological systems, and its link to ecological function. He also works closely with practitioners and policy makers to help cities like Beijing and Shenzhen accomplish sustainable urban transformations. He serves as the Co-Editor-in-Chief for Landscape and Urban Planning, the Vice President of the International Association of Landscape Ecology, and the Secretary-general of the Ecological Society of China.
Urban thermal environments: linking climatic non-stationarity to reliable decision-making
Professor Huimin Liu
Associate Professor, School of Urban Design, Wuhan University
Huimin LIU is an Associate Professor at the School of Urban Design, Wuhan University, China. She is a recipient of the Hubei Provincial Young Talent Program and the Deputy Director of the Digital and Smart City Research Institute within Wuhan University' s Digital City Research Center. Her research lies at the intersection of urban planning, geography, and remote sensing, with a particular focus on the patterns, causes, and solutions to urban climate change. She serves as an Associate Editor for Human Settlements and Sustainability and a Lead Author for China' s Fifth National Assessment Report on Climate Change.
