We are pleased to announce that Professor Frank van der Wouden has been awarded the Social Sciences Outstanding Research Output Award 2024-25 in the category of Applied Research. This accolade is a testament to Professor van der Wouden’s dedication and excellence in advancing our understanding of collaborative learning.

Professor van der Wouden’s paper, “The impact of geographical distance on learning through collaboration,” co-authored with H. Youn and published in Research Policy, represents a groundbreaking contribution to the social sciences. The study demonstrates that scholars learn approximately 57% more when collaborating in close proximity compared to those working across distances, making it one of the most impactful papers on this topic in recent years.

Please join us in extending our heartfelt congratulations to Professor van der Wouden for this outstanding achievement. His relentless pursuit of excellence continues to inspire us all, and we look forward to seeing more pioneering contributions from him in the future.
