Why MATPP?

1.

The MATPP programme is the leading programme of its kind in Asia specializing in Transport Policy and Planning. Its comprehensiveness and multi-disciplinary nature train students to deal with various transport issues from different angles and perspectives.

2.

This programme is highly relevant to the needs of the contemporary world of transport. Students not only learn about fundamental transport knowledge and the latest developments in the field but also essential communication and presentation skills. A heavy emphasis is placed on developing students' critical and analytical mindsets. These qualities are highly valued by employers in the transport industry.

3.

The programme's sharp focus on policy and planning is particularly important in providing government officials with solid knowledge about theories and the latest local and overseas developments in transport policy and planning. Graduates are equipped to help draw up well-considered transport policies and plans suitable to the local contexts.

4.

For students based outside Hong Kong (including mainland China), the one-year full-time mode offers the best-quality intensive academic and professional education in transport policy and planning to allow graduates to bring new ideas and insights into their organizations, cities and/or countries. The MATPP programme is delivered in English and the programme team warmly welcomes students from mainland China and all other nationalities.

5.

The MATPP qualifications are widely recognized and highly regarded both within the public and private sectors. It receives the full accreditation of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) and is accredited by the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) as a Specialism programme for those who would like to specialize in transport policy and planning.

6.

In addition to senior government officials and senior personnel from private firms contributing to the programme as teachers and invited guest speakers, the MATPP Alumni Association helps to foster closer ties among teachers, graduates, and fellow students. Graduates are able to widen their professional network with the support of a strong
alumni network.

7.

The MATPP programme is subject to stringent reviews by external examiners from top overseas universities. Moreover, the programme regularly undergoes vigorous reviews by the University of Hong Kong and the leading professional organizations in the transport and planning fields to ensure that it is of the highest standard both in terms of academic content and professional relevancy.
